Bangkok, Thailand - A city of 9,100,000 people. God has brought the Randy Ashcraft family here to spread the light of His truth. As Paul in Athens, we too have had our spirit stirred by living in a city that is "wholly given to idolatry." Depending on where you look, "Bangkok" means "City of the Deity" or "Divine City." And yet, they do not know the One True God. Even their calendar system is based on the fact that Buddha was born 543 years before Christ, so in Thailand, this year is 2553 B.E. (Buddhist Era). While in Athens, the people perceived Paul to be a "setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection." Our desire is that, like Paul, people will come to us and ask, "May we know what this new doctrine, whereof thou speakest, is? For thou bringest certain strange things to our ears: we would know therefore what these things mean." Please pray for us as we begin to build relationships and minister to the people here. Pray that God will give us an understanding of their language, culture, and customs. Pray that Thailand will be won to Christ!
